The Waitlist
Please read this in totality, and completely. This page explains what our waitlist is, and the process of getting on it, moving forward, etc.
Important Info You Should Know
We are a small hobby breeder, which means we do not mass produce puppies. We have MAYBE two litters a year, sometimes only one. All of our puppies are housed from birth until the day they leave us in our home (my dining room to be exact.) This means our personal lives, and daily routines revolve around the puppies. Raising one litter of puppies is a lot of work, which is why we will only have one litter on the ground at any give time.
We do not own a fancy crystal ball (Thanks a lot Ebay), and cannot predict exactly how many puppies will be in a litter prior to the mother giving birth, at best we have a rough headcount thanks to ultrasounds and x-rays. Even with our rough headcount we cannot tell you how many males and females will be in a litter until they are born. Which is why we will not take a deposit from you until we are certain we have a puppy for you.*
Step A: Communication
You’re looking for a Golden Retriever puppy, sweet! We see you’ve landed on our page, double sweet. You have questions about us, we would too, let’s chat. This “pre-step-step” involves either a phone call between us or an email exchange in which we answer any questions you have about us and our breeding program. If you decide you’d like to move forward, scroll down.
Step 1: Questionnaire
It all begins with our owner/puppy questionnaire. We will send this to you first and foremost to get a feel for what you’re looking for in a dog and get some general information about you, your family, and household. We will determine whether we are a good fit for you and what you’re seeking. If we dont believe that we are a good fit, or will be unable to produce what you are looking for we will let you know and give you recommendations on other breeders who may be able to better fit your needs/wants. (We won’t leave you hanging.)
Step 2: Waitlist Approval
Undoubtedly the least fun part of this whole experience. Once we approve you to be on our waitlist we will go over our contract with you via a phone call and if you agree to all the terms and conditions we will have you sign it and send it back to us to keep on file. The waitlist will always seems longer than what it actually is as many people request to be put on our waitlist while they continue their search for a puppy. It’s not uncommon for us to contact someone to inform them that we have a puppy for them and they decline because they have already found a puppy from another breeder. (If you are on our waitlist and this is the case, we appreciate you letting us know so we can remove your name from our waitlist.)
Step 3: Pregnancy is Confirmed
Once we have a confirmation of pregnancy via ultrasound we will begin to contact people chronologically by the date we received the signed purchase agreement. If we notify you that you are up next for a puppy, you will have 72 hours to confirm that you still want a puppy, if you decline you will be removed from the waitlist and will have to rejoin from Step 2.
Step 4: Puppies are Born
Once the puppies have been born and we have a final headcount of males and females we will notify you that the deposit of $750.00 USD is due. Failure to pay this deposit within one week, will result in you being removed from the waitlist and you will have to rejoin from Step 2.
Important little things to know
Certain people will be moved to the top of the list depending on what they need. Example being people seeking service dogs will be marked as a priority as that puppy has to have specific personality and disposition traits to make an ideal working dog. While this person may be marked as a priority every litter may not produce such a puppy and they may end up waiting several litters for the perfect puppy to come along. This is the same for those who are seeking a show-dog prospect, not every litter we produce will have a good show prospect so this person may also be waiting for several litters.
*Show prospect deposits are due at the time of approval for the waitlist, not when a puppy is produced for you.
